With the tomb of William of Wykeham within its chantry, below B. WYON and ETIAM SEPULTI VIVIT FAMA WYKEHAMI; the reverse with the bare head of Queen Victoria facing left, above HONOREM PRINCEPS PROPONIT; B. WYON and VICTORIA; engraved to the edge F.A.T. PHILLIPS SCHOLARIS MDCCCLXXVI. With damaged leather presentation case marked WYON 237 REGENT STREET LONDON.

Francis A.T. Phillips was elected sixth on Roll for Election to Winchester College in 1869 (The Wykehamist No. 26, October 1869, p. 3.) Following a successful spell there he went on to Oxford where he represented the university at the F.A. Cup Final in 1880 against Clapham Rovers at the Oval.

A similar medal in the Fitzwilliam Museum at Cambridge (object: CM.715-1989) was shown at the exhibition Glittering Prizes: Schools and their medals, 8th October 2012 - 31st March 2013.
